Excellent food, atmosphere, service and drinks. What could be better for a pre-Christmas meal. Small number of seats available so reservations essential.

Having booked the restaurant two weeks prior, we were told there had been an 'error with our booking' and we couldn't sit. They had our name on the system, so it was no mistake of ours.
Perhaps they didn't approve our booking? But given they said they'd 'just filled the last slot', I doubt it.
Mistakes happen, but there was hardly an apology, and no attempt to rectify the situation.
Given the chef's reputation, I'm very disappointed.

Absolutely marvellous restaurant. Lovely atmosphere. Staff were attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. We were told exactly what was in our dish. We had the xhefs menu , six courses. Nice wine list.

Just had a birthday lunch at this new restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. The food, drinks, service and ambience were all first class and the best we've experienced in Louth in the past seven years. The only negative was the pop music from the speaker above our table was a bit loud for conversation, but the waitress turned it down accordingly and checked with us if it was ok, so she turned a negative into a positive. This is not a restaurant that skimps on quality, so it's pricier than other restaurants around, but it is very good value for money given the overall experience and very high quality of the food offerings.
"Menu du Jour" for two, covers all the options, so we tried everything between us. Already booked a return visit with friends. Highly recommended!

Had a great lunch at the auction house, good value for the quality of cooking at £30 for 3 courses on the menu du jour. Thoroughly recommended.

Went for dinner here for our Wedding Anniversary. Chose the tasting menu. Started badly with a Lincolnshire Poacher croquette with Parmesan shavings and an in house HP sauce. The croquette had no discernable cheese flavour and that included the visible flakes of Parmesan. The in house HP was far too vinegary and would have overwhelmed both cheese flavours had there been any. Then things improved. It sounds as if from a transport caf menu but the the focaccia and roast beef dripping transported me back to my childhood in the Fifties. The dripping is the jelly at the bottom of the dripping whisked with butter and was absolutely delicious. Next was the best French Onion soup I have ever had followed by gorgeous thick flakes of smoked Haddock and poached egg. Sadly we then took another nose dive with the Roast loin of Fallow Deer. This had been Sous Vided to death, tender yes but almost completely devoid of flavour. It was supposed to have a puree of what should have been beautifully sweet Black Garlic but that also had gone walkabout. The flavour was of the accompanying Squash Puree. Redemption time again with the two desserts; my wife tells me the Sticky Toffee pudding was good and I can attest to the flavoursome Bishop Bigod cheese on toasted Brioche with Apricot sauce. Wine list is small and well priced .
The restaurant is small and intimate which is good however, you only need a group of load diners on the only table for four to raise the noise level and make conversation uncomfortable.
The Waitresses are a delight, no pompous side to them just charming and smilingly helpful.
It is a shame that there were a couple of redundant courses but the overall evening was enjoyable and the restaurant is an undoubted asset to Louth. I wish you all well and shall return.

Just amazing food, as you’d expect from Gareth and we’re lucky to have him here in Louth. In a world of overdone, overpriced tasting menus and crazy prices, this is such a refreshing restaurant both in the atmosphere and the food.

Great food made from excellent ingredients accompanied by wonderful service.
We opted for the chefs choice of six dishes, one of us being pescatarian, and everything was delicious from fresh oysters through to strawberries and cream... I am under selling it ....every dish was well balanced and full of flavour.
Service was not only with a smile, attentive but not over the top, but also providing a full description of each and every course and the elements it contained. A lovely meal, and we will be back when we are next in the area.

When you pay Michelin prices you expect Michelin quality sadly the venue will never match those standards. The food was ok not good when you're expecting something special. My partners lamb was very chewy and my beef lacked a crust after spending too long in the water bath. Veg over cooked but the worst part is the seating, its too tightly packed the tables are about 300mm apart and I had a stream of waitresses inches from where I was eating.
The downstairs table next to the window had one poor bloke eating his meal right next to the door onto the street. That's not going to be fun in winter.
Service lost a star because there was no description of what you were being served. I do like that and missed it.
We expected so much from the team so it's doubly sad that we came away disappointed.

I’ve previously dined at Winteringham Fields so I was very excited to try top notch dining in a slightly more relaxed and informal setting by a chef with a Michelin background. I wasn’t disappointed, excellent food at a reasonable price.
Upstairs seating is up a steep and narrow set of stairs so will not be suitable for those with mobility issues- however there is also downstairs seating so please specify downstairs seating when making a reservation if accessibility is important to you.

Wow, what an experience that was. Food was outstandingly good, not sure what wizardry this chief uses. If you are looking for fresh, high quality and superbly cooked food served to the highest standard in a very relaxed venue, then look no further and get yourself booked in.
Staff were very attentive without being over buring. , thank you for a lovely meal.

New venture for the chef and family. Food very good as you'd expect from a chef who was formally head chef at a Michelin star restaurant.
Covers are split over two floors.
Choice to select your own dishes "al a carte" or go for the "chefs choice" which is a tasting menu.
Definitely worth a visit and no doubt will be listed in all the food guide books very soon

Well now.....I would have gone 5 1/2 if given the option. Forra "wee caff on the high st" the eats are phenomenal and the house shiraz as smmooooth as the passion fruit posset. Worth every penny or terrific value, take your pick and book in advance. The toast of Louth.
